As the leading supplier of flame retardant treatments for upholstery fabrics, we provide a comprehensive range of fabric coating services to suit the specific needs of our customers, including processing our customers’ own fabrics or supplying ready treated fabrics for a wide range of upholstery applications.

Clarksons, led by Roger White as Managing Director, are at the forefront of product innovation. Roger, as a textile polymer Chemist, has spent his whole career working with flame retardant chemistry .

Processes

We use a tailor made bar-coded system, ensuring maximum traceability and control.

Our processes are based on a system of coating and lamination to achieve final treated fabrics with the following properties:

  • Flame Retardant up to Crib 7
  • Waterproof up to 10m Hydrostatic head
  • Water repellent and stain repellent for easy care
  • Breathable
  • Antifungal / antibacterial properties for healthcare applications
  • Urine proof properties for hygiene applications
  • Black out properties

 

Coating processes meet the standards required by the UK Domestic Upholstery Industry, the UK Contract Upholstery Industry, European M1 & B1 paper cushion test, the IMO Marine Industry and BS 7177 Bedding.

Laboratory

We have a fully equipped in-house laboratory with a staff of four headed by Rhys Harrison, a flame retardant specialist with over twenty years’ experience.

The laboratory operates a Flammability Code of Practice, recognised and approved by Fretwork (The Flame Retardant Textile Network).

Finished Fabrics

We can supply ready coated fabrics to customer requirements, including waterproof, flame retardant fabric for contract and hospitality applications.

Fabrics can be supplied in plain colours and prints.

We also provide a range of coated fabrics for specialist end use, for example mattresses for prison services applications.

Applications

 Clarksons fabric coating processes and finished coated fabric products are used primarily in upholstery applications where flame retardant and specialist fabric hygiene coatings are demanded.
